YAAL Is Recruiting Theatre Lovers
If you and your kids have been involved with classes, workshops, or shows with YAAL, then you know that we are a labor of love. We began as simply a group of parents who want to create a truly wonderful experience for our kids and the young people in the Lincoln area, and we’ve grown into a fully-functioning children’s theater company. And we’ve done it all without any full-time staff — just a small Board of Directors who care about our mission and are completely dedicated to seeing it thrive.
As YAAL continues to grow, we’re looking to grow our Board as well. We want to be totally honest here – our board requires more time than most. Realistically, we’re looking for someone who is dedicated enough to commit about 5 hours a week to YAAL, and more during weeks of major performances. We also hold formal meetings once a month for 2 hours. Most importantly, we’re looking for people who love our mission and our kids as much as we do. But if you have a background in fundraising, accounting, legal matters, non-profit management, or anything else that you think might benefit the group as a whole, then that’s a big bonus. If this sounds like you, then we would LOVE to talk! Just send us a cover letter telling us why you’d love to be a bigger part of YAAL, and a resume with relevant experience. We promise that you’ll be amazed by what we can accomplish for our kids!
If a spot on the Board of Directors doesn’t sound like a realistic time commitment for you, don’t worry — we still need your help! We’re also looking for parents and friends of YAAL who want to serve on committees with a specific goal — fundraising, decorating our new space, managing aspects of our major productions (ticket sales, concessions, etc). We know that we are nothing without our dedicated supporters, parents, and friends, and we are beyond grateful for all the work that has allowed YAAL to become what it is today.
